The Eames Lounge chair was the Eames first design for the luxury market. This supremely comfortable chair has sumptuously cushioned leather seat pads which invites you in. Set on a wood-veneered plywood shell on aluminium supports and a cast aluminium base. Shock mounts allow the backrest and headrest to flex slightly in use. This true design class has been in constant production since its creation.

That is the aluminum group chair. I have one I bought new for a vintage Herman Miller/Charles Eames office set up. The chair itself is tolerably comfy, the armrests are brutal.
I use the Eames lounge chair for listening. It does tilt you back a bit, but what looks like a headrest is really at shoulder height and it is far more comfortable; also can be bought with matching ottoman.

For a guy of your size (dude, you a big motha!), you gotta try these, and not just for 2 minutes. Bring a book and sit in em for a while. FWIW, if you did not know, a decorator or designer gets a huge discount from retail on these.

I currently use the large Aero for my office in the city; it is way more comfortable than the aluminum group chair and far more adjustable, but it will look like an office chair. I did go with the lounge if you fit into it ok- it is a little low if your height is in your legs. The Aero would be just right, except, perhaps, for the aesthetics, but that is an individual choice.

Herman Miller sues Canadian company for selling iconic Eames knock-off furniture

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Something is wrong when you canot tell an iconic Eames chair and ottoman from a Sonoma.

That is why Herman Miller is suing a Canadian company for selling knock-offs of its famous mid-century modern designs by Charles and Ray Eames that have a place in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

The suit, filed in federal court in Grand Rapids this week, accuses the Toronto-based New American, Inc. of copyright and trademark infringement, and unfair competition.

The lawsuit contends that some of Nuevos furniture products are “identical with, or substantially indistinguishable” from Herman Millers Eames lounge chairs and ottomans, Eames Aluminium Group and soft pad chairs, and other Eames Herman Miller products.

Nuevo is likely to cause consumer confusion and is competing unfairly against Herman Miller by importing and selling furniture that incorporates one of the trademark designs or directly or indirectly uses one of the trademarked brand names, contends the company.

“Nuevo sells its knock-off furniture items, directly or indirectly, to retailers, who sell the knock-off furniture to consumers, sometimes in connection with the Eames trademark,” according to the suit.
